SCHOOL OF FORESTRY
Sir, —In advocating that the Progress League and Chamber of Commerce should ask the leaders in the present political contest to delay action and have further investigations approving plans for a School of Forestry, Mr Jas. R. Wilkinson has made a proposal that seems vital to the Dominion’s welfare. Beside their wood products, the utilisation of which should not be monopolised, trees are of manifold value. Recognising this, the Canterbury College Council has advanced a scheme covering the whole Don.inion for gaining and imparting fuller knowledge about? tree plantings and usages. Can anything less specialised and comprehensive than the University College suggests benefit the community?—Yours, etc., ALF. G. HOLLAND. November 14, 1949.
