“CRITICAL” STAGE REACHED
RAPID DEPLETION OF STOCKS
(Bee. 8.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 5. There were no big developments today in the 48-day-old soft coal strike. Government officials said that the
real strike had reached a “critical” Itage. x Mr John Battle, executive vicepresident of the National Coal Asso-
ciation. said that the current cold weather in the eastern United States would accentuate the rapid depletion of stockpiles which were “near danger-point” at the beginning of November.
