MUNICIPAL BATHS AT GREYMOUTH
♦ SUPERVISION DECLINED BY SWIMMING CENTRE From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH. October 17. Dissatisfaction with the existing state of the buildings and facilities at the Greymouth municipal baths has forced the West Coast Swimming Centre to decline the supervision of Greymouth’s sole swimming facility for the coming season. It was agreed at the annual meeting of the centre this evening to advise the Greymouth Borough Council that under the circumstances the centre was unable to see its way clear to continue to conduct and supervise the municipal baths in the coming season. Ihe president (Mr M. R. Bunt), who was re-elected chairman of the centre, in the annual report said that no progress had been made in spite of several meetings with the reserves committee of the borough council The council had carried out such repairs as had been vitally necessary to maintain the seating in a reasonably safe, if dilapidated condition, bui much more would be required if the present buildings were to serve for any length of time. Mr E. McDonnell was re-elected patron and Mr R. K. Holmes elected secretary-treasurer. Mr W. S. McClymont was elected honorary educational officer. Mr J. M. Cassidy handicapper. and Mr Hugh Gillespie resident delegate tr the New Zealand
