Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Situation: a deep depression is passing to the south of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh north-west to west winds. Rain in the alps. Weather fair and mild elsewhere. Outlook: fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate westerly winds. Weather cloudy. with occasional showers. Temperatures moderate. Outlook: similar conditions. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER a. he weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and warm, with winds from a northerly quarter. The sky at midnight was fairly cloudy, and there was a light east wind. The temperature was 56.1 degrees. The barometer, at 29.401 inches (595.6 millibars), was falling steadily.
