CITY TATTERSALL’S CLUB
AQUA REGIS WINS DOUBLE
(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 16. In squally conditions. Snowstream beat Faraway in the City Tattersall’s Gold Cup at Randwick. The lightly-weighted Wiranya made up much ground to be placed third. Snowstream was handy all through the race, and won so convincingly that a Melbourne Cup start is being recommended.
The three-year-old. Aqua Regis, registered a rare double when he won the First Club Welter and George Herdsman Stakes within 70 minutes. He incurred a 711? penalty for his first win. Veteran racing men have to go back 51 years to find a precedent at Randwick for the Aqua Regis feat. One of the best remembered doubles was Carbine's All-Aged Stakes and Cumberland Stakes on the same day of the autumn meeting in 1891. Results:— CITY TATTERSALHS GOLD CUP, Of £l2OO.
