* CANTERBURY WOMEN BEAT MIRAMAR A last innings Rome run by N. Brown for Canterbury Combined gave the home side a win by one point over Miramar (Wellington) in a women’s softball game played at Hagley Park on Saturday. Home runs were also scored by J. Smith (Miramar) and L. Woods (Canterbury). The Miramar team included two New Zealand representatives. Results were as follows : Canterbury Combined 5, Miramar 4; Spreydon 14, Seagulls B 4; Linwood B 17, Farmers’ 16; Cardinals 18, Barlows 7; Seagulls A 17, State Fire 8. .
