In the picture on the left Miss Evelyn Hayes, one of the scientists, is seen adjusting a filter for the 1,000,000-volt X-ray machine used in experiments. If the machine were operating she could not remain in the room. More than 400,000 dollars in Federal funds has been allocated for the work.
