MASS X-RAY TESTS
SERVICE TO BEGIN IN CHRISTCHURCH
WOMEN IN INDUSTRY TO BE FIRST GROUP
Mass radiography services in Christchurch are expected to begin in Christchurch next February. Plans covering the first groups of persons to be examined have been worked out by Dr. I. C. Maclntyre. Director of Tuberculosis to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, and Dr. D. P. Kennedy, medical inspector of factories. One Of the first groups to be examined would be all women workers between the ages of 15 years and 30 years in industry, Dr. Kennedy told a meeting of the Council of Women in Christchurch. In addition all workers. male or female, in food factories would be examined.
The system was voluntary. Dr. Kennedy said, but it was hoped that in time there would be an almost com-, plete coverage. •Juvenile workers in industry now have a medical examination before they begin work, and Dr. Kennedy said that this examination would be extended to include examination by the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s miniature X-ray plant.
