UNDEFENDED DIVORCE PETITIONS

A decree nisi on the ground stated was granted the petitioner in each of the following undefended petitions for divorce, heard before Mr Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court yesterday:— Adultery.—Albert Brynley Richards (Mr A. Zela Ellen Davison; Robert William Ling (Mr H. O. Jacobsen) v. Varey Ling. Separation.—lvan Harold Wilson (Mr R. N. C. Hill) v. Ethel May Wilson; Pat Lancelot Riley (Mr W. F. Tracy) v. Vivenia Riley; Linda May Cliff (Mr R. A. Young) v. Maurice Stanley Percy Cliff. MARRIAGE ANNULLED Gloria Emma Sinclair (otherwise Paterson) petitioned for her marriage with Lawrence Sinclair (formerly Robert William Henry Strongman) to be annulled. Mr W. F. Tracy appeared for the petitioner. The petitioner, in evidence, said that on April 3, 1946, she went through a form of marriage with Lawrence Sinclair, who described himself as a bachelor. Early in January, 1947, she found that he was already married and that his wife was living when he went through a marriage ceremony with petitioner. Detective R. H. Harding said he investigated a charge of bigamy against Sinclair, who admitted he was Robert William Henry Strongman, and was already married. Strongman was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment for bigamy. The petitioner's marriage was declared null and void. JUDICIAL SEPARATION Marjory Annear Hyde (Mr P. H. T. Alpers) was granted a judicial separation from Archibald Champion Hyde. She gave evidence that her husband deserted her without just cause on July 16, 1947. RESTITUTION OF CONJUGAL RIGHTS Hilda Maud Holmes (Mr P. H. T. Alpers) petitioned against Maurice Francis Tancred Holmes for restitution of conjugal rights. An order was made for restitution within 14 days.
