TETANUS IN LAMBS
Several farmers in Canterbury have recently reported deaths in lambs after tailing which may be from tetanus. The symptoms, which usually develop a fortnight after tailing and castration, and may be observed for four weeks, are a rigid stiffening of the body, and frothing at the mouth. Death usually ensues four to eight hours after the symptoms first appear. The veterinary department at Lincoln College is making an investigation of the disease, and would be grateful if farmers observing these symptoms in i lambs would communicate with them at once.
