ERNDALE SOLD
FUTURE RACING IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA Erndale has been sold by the Riccarton trainer, C. H. Fairman, and he will do his future racing in South Australia. Bred by Mr E. E. Edmonds in 1944, Erndale showed encouraging form to be placed in five races last season, his record including a win in the first division of the Redcastle Trot Handicap at the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting on March 23. In this race, Erndale outclassed the field, winning by five lengths from Aerogard in 2min 46 3-ssec from a Emin 59sec mark.
A son of a successful sire in Sandydale, Erndale is out of Dulux, which is also the dam of Palette, Eileen Lilian, and Sheffield’s Beauty. By Travis Axworthv, Dulux is out of War Paint, by Man o’ War from May Tracey, by Captain Tracey from Harold’s Pride, by King Harold from Lady Hope, by the imported Del Paso.
A likely improver, Erndale should do well in South Australia. May Be Improved
Slavonic, which was making his first appearance after a spell, set the pace for most of the way in the Peninsula Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting last week. If he has been improved by the race, Slavonic may earn some of the money in the Royal Handicap at the same club’s meeting to-day. Black Storm’s Prospects Black Storm gave an encouraging performance to finish second to Robin Adair in the second division of the Victory Handicap at the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting last week. A Dillon Hall gelding, Black Storm, which is one of the favourites for the Stewards’ Handicap at Wanganui to-day, is out of Princess Ada, which left wellknown performers in Tom Gundv to Lusty Volo, and Ada Scott to U Scott. Trained at Temuka
Highland Prince, a place-getter at his last two starts for T. H. Gunning, who trains him at Temuka, may be hard to beat in his division of the Geraldine Trot Handicap at the Geraldine Racing Club s meeting.
A four-year-old U Scott gelding. Highland Prince is out of Erinara, which is by Jack Potts from Leila Denver, by Denver Huon from Beulah G. Racing at Greymouth
Kimono Girl, which returned a big place dividend when she finished third to Black Diamond and Victory Dale in the Bowhill Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on September 24, will probably be at a much shorter price in the Spring Handicap at the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting next week. A Strong Bracket
The Washdyke trainer, P. P. Gallagher, will parade a strong bracket in Sandy Logan, which has won at his last two starts, and Foreign Lady, which gained four wins and seven minor placings last season, in the Victory Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting. May Win Again Robin Adair, an easy winner on the first day of the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting last week, will probably be sent out favourite for the Moutoa Handicap at the same club’s meeting to-day. Most opposition to Robin Adair is expected to come from Sailor’s Globe, Rolling Home, and Indian Call.
Greymouth Trotting Club Withdrawals for all events on the first day close with the Secretary on Monday, October 17, at 8 p.m. Advt.
