PEN FRIENDS WANTED
REQUEST FROM ENGLISH SCHOOL “All our pupils wish to write and hear about home, school and town and country life, sports and hobbies,” says a letter received by “The Press” from the social studies section of the Woodhouse County Primary senior mixed school. Leeds, England, appealing for pen friends from boys and girls in New Zealand. “While these may seem ordinary, they are of the greatest interest in another country, as was found last year when several newspapers from overseas reached us,” the letter continued. The following is a list of pupils of the school who wish to correspond, with their ages and special interests: June Fuller, aged 12, reading and swimming: Vera Jacques, 13, a twin sister; Margaret Kennet, 13, cycling, long walks, sewing, reading, fond of animals; Thelma Emerson, 13, a twin sister, holidays on farm, reading, dancing, roller skating; Betty Watson, 12; Basil Jones, 12. pigeons; Jack Roberts, 12; Gerald Hyman, 12, all sport; Ronald Perks, 12. reading and all sport; Geoffrey Heath, 13, cricket; Gordon Jackson, 13, photography, boy scout, camping, entertains at school concerts.
