FRIDAY (Before Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS Hugh McMillan Barron, aged 34. a statutory second offender, was fined 20s for drunkenness, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. REMANDED Charged with being found in a state of intoxication when in charge of a motor-car in Moorhouse avenue on October 14. Frank Charles Platt (Mr B. J. Drake), aged 36, pleaded not guilty and was remanded to appear on Monday. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25. George William Nelson Wildermoth, aged 62. was remanded to appear on October 20 when charged with attempting to obtain, with intention to defraud, the sum of £5 from Joe Bierman, Ltd., by falsely representing that a cheque for that amount, signed H. Gillander, was a good and valid order. THEFT Graham Kenneth Bryant, aged 19. who appeared for sentence on a charge of stealing a wallet and £3 in money, the property of Dudley Edward Eyes, at Weedons on October 9, was Fined £lO. The Magistrate said Bryant had been guilty of a mean theft in stealing from a fellow aircra r tman. The appeared to have been deliberate and ’associated with some ingenuity. “If you appear again on a similar charge it is almost certain you will receive a gaol sentence,” the Magistrate said. TRAFFIC BREACHES Offenders against the traffic regulations were dealt with as follows:—Un lighted cycle: James Edgar Glasson, fined 20s. Failing to notify new ownership of motorcar: Gordon Webb Hazeldine. fined £5 Driving without due care and attention: Ronald Osburne Symonds, fined £2. CIVIL CASES THURSDAY (Before Mr Rex C. McConchie was ordered to pay Marshall and Thompson, Ltd., £5B 14s lOd forthwith, in default 59 days’ imprisonment; J. Doyle was ordered to pay Dimond and Hart, Ltd., £4 15s forthwith, in default five davs’ imprisonment; William Hamilton was ordered to pay Henry James Chesmar £43 6s forthwith, in default 44 days’ imprisonment: Godfrey McConchie was ordered to pay W.
