SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFICIARIES

INCREASE FOR INMATES OF HOMES The apportionment of social security benefits for inmates of homes has been decided by the Social Security Commission. It has ruled that as the major portion of the 1947 increase was allocated to hospital boards the new benefit announced in the Budget will be distributed from June 1 as follows!—£4 6s 8d a month to the beneficiary, £6 10s a month to the hospital board. An inmate of a charitable institution at present receives £3 5s a month.
