FIGHT IN MILAN

WORKERS AND POLICE CLASH GENERAL STRIKE CALLED IN ONE DISTRICT (Rec. 7 p.m.) ROME. September 5. At least 20 persons were injured today in a gun fight between police and demonstrating workers in Milan. The shooting began when the police tried to disperse employees of the Breda engineering works who were demonstrating on wage grievances. The workers were marching on the prefecture when fighting began at a police barricade. About 15 workers were arrested. The demonstrators then withdrew to the Communist district of Sesto San Giovanni, blocked traffic with trucks, and fired on approaching police. One policeman was seriously wounded. Heavy police reinforcements arrived, and eventually the situation returned to normal. The United Press says that a general strike has been called in all the big factories of Sesto San Giovanni. About 25.000 workers will be involved.
