JESSIE MACKAY AWARD
SECOND WIN FOR RUTH GILBERT (New Zealand Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, September 6. The Jessie Mackay memorial competition for verse—an annual award given by the New Zealand branch of the P.E.N., has been won by Ruth Gilbert (Mrs J. B. Mackay), of Wellington, who also won the award last year. The poems by Mrs Mackay arc l “Sanatorium” and “Behold, It Was Leah.”
Second place and honourable mention were awarded to Miss Nancy Bruce, of Wanganui, for her bracket of poems, beginning with one entitled “The Inarticulate.”
