ANNUAL REUNION

OLD GIRLS OF TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL

A very friendly and happy gathering was the annual dinner party and entertainment held last evening by membets of the Christchurch branch of the Timaru Girls’ High School Old Girls’ Association, of which Mrs B. Toneycliffe is president, Miss M. Rawstorh honorary secretary, and Mesdames M. Mauger and W. Munro vicepresidents.

The guests were welcomed by Mrs Toneycliffe, who expressed great pleasure at the presence of Miss M. Ronaldsoh, a former teacher, who had come from Timaru for the party, Mrs Buckley (Auckland), who, as Miss Mina Coote, was honorary secretary of the branch, and Mrs McClatchie, an old girl now living in Nelson. Other specially invited guests 1 were Mrs D. Miller (president of the executive council of Old Girls’ Associations), and representatives of old girls’ associations of Nelson Girls’ College, Te Wai Pounamu, Christchurch Girls’ High School. Waitaki. Ayonside, Otago, and Southland Girls’ High Schools, and Christchurch West High School. Miss Ronaldson. representing the Timaru association, brought news of the school and of many old* girls and former teachers and the good wishes of the president of the Timaru association (Mrs Cameron). Messages of goodwill were also received from Miss Barbara Watt, a former principal of Timaru Girls’ High School, who is now living in Dunedin.

Mrs Miller, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the hostesses for their hospitality.

A concert programme was nresented by Mrs B. Mackenzie and' Mrs I Murray (piano duets), Mrs H. Denford and Miss Jean Byers (vocal auets) Mrs T. Guv and Mrs M. Hodgson (songs), and members of the Dickens Fellowship, who staged a’ sketch.
