ORE MAY CONTAIN URANIUM
DISCOVERY IN NORTHERN AUSTRALIA 'Rec. 9 p.m.) DARWIN, Sept. 6. A oromising find of what is believed to be rich uranium ore has been made near a military road within 109 miles of Darwin, according to the Administrator of the Northern Territory (Mr A. R. Driver). Samples of the ore have been taken to Alice Springs for testing, and a Government geologist has been sent to the area. Uranium has already been found elsewhere in the Northern Territory, but there is no access road to these deposits through 1000 miles of rough terrain. Anti-Indian Demonstration.—Several thousand Pakistanis to-day burned Indian handkerchiefs and cotton yarn at a meeting in Karachi to demand a boycott of Indian textiles. The crowd was protesting against the “hostile attitude” of the Indian Government towards Moslems who have left property m India and migrated to Pakistan. Earlier, the crowd nad marched through the streets, carrying placards and shouting anti-Indian slogans.—Karachi, September 5.
