STATE HOUSE FOR SCHOOL MASTER

INSTITUTE REPORTS ALLOCATION A State house will be allocated to the headmaster of the new Quinn’s road school, Shirley, according to an item in a newsletter sent to members by the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Mr G. W. Dell, chairman of the State House Allocation Committee in Christchurch, said last evening that the question of a house for the headmaster of the new school had not yet been before the committee. It would come before the committee, but he would not predict what the decision would be. His personal view was that, if a headmaster could not be obtained unless a house was provided, a State house should be allocated, as State houses were the only properties the Government had available for letting. The education of the children who would attend the new school should not be held up because of want of accommodation for the headmaster.
