DAVIS CUP CONTEST
AUSTRALIA WINS FINAL IN AMERICAN ZONE (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 30. Australia won the American zone final of the Davis Cup competition today, when Bromwich and Sedgman beat Armando Vega and Rolando Vega, of Mexico, 6-0, 6-4, 6-2. Bromwich played a masterly game throughout, creating opportunities for Sedgman, who used powerful stroke-win - ning smashes. Bromwich’s placings were the best on the court, and he made fewer errors generally than Sedgman, who often volleyed into the net. Armando Vega played a high standard of tennis, and was far more outstanding than his brother. In the singles. Sedgman beat Armando Vega. 12-10. 4-6. 6-4, 1-6. 6-3. Bromwich beat Rolando Vega, 6-0. 6-2. 6-1.
