OPERATION EXTENDS LEG ALMOST THREE INCHES (New Zealand Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 17. Crippled for nearly eight years, a youth, aged 19, is walking again after an operation in the Middlemore Hospital, which extended his leg almost three inches. He was crippled by osteomyelitis, and has been in the Papatoetoe orphan home for 15 years. His previous crippled leg is now less than an inch shorter than his other, and crutches have been discarded for a walking stick.

Within a few weeks the youth will be able to walls almost normally.
