MARRIED FOR 65 YEARS
MR AND MRS W. J. ROGERS Mr and Mrs W. J. Rogers, who will celebrate the sixty-fifth juiniversary of their wedding to-morrow, were married in the Broadmead Baptist Chapel, Bristol, England, on June 2, 1884. They are both 85 years did, and live at 247 Fifield terrace, Opawa. Mr Rogers came to New Zealand in 1907, ana was joined by his wife and two children a year later. Since coming to New Zealand members of the Rogers family have spent most of their time in Tunaru, where for 30 years Mr Rogers was a member of the staff of Dalgety and Company, Ltd., until his retirement through illhealth. In 1944 Mr and Mrs Rogers came to Christchurch, where they have made their home, and where they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary five years ago. Although Mrs Rogers suffered severe injuries m a motor-car accident last February, and spent many months in hospital, both she and Mr Rogers are enjoying reasonably good . health at present Mr Rogers nas a licence to drive a car, and says that he likes to drive himself.
Mr an 1 Mrs Rogers have a family of one son and three daughters, all of whom are living. They are Mr W. D. Rogers (Timaru), Mrs J. W. Trott (Christchurch), Mrs L. G. Long (Invercargill), and Mrs E. G. Genn (Christchurch). They have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchild-ren. One grandson was killed in an accident early this year. To celebrate the anniversary, Mr and Mrs Rogers are having a family gathering at the Takahe, Cashmere Hills, to-morrow evening.
