DIVERSION WORK TO BEGIN SOON CAMP BUILDINGS UNDER CONSTRUCTION “The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. May 24. Work on the diversion cut at Coal Creek is expected to start in about three months. This will be the first step in the development of the Roxburgh hydro-electric project on the Clutha river. . . . The cutting of the diversion, which will entail the removal of large Quantities of rock, will occupy , more than 12 months. The plant required for the earthworks is being obtained m readiness for cutting the diversion. Some of it is in store and other machines will be brought to New Zealand to assist in the removal of about 500,0UU yards of spoil. onn A dining room to accommodate 2UU men and a kitchen, together with an ablutions block, are being built at Coal Creek. The work has been in progress for three weeks and tne buildings should be finished before the end of August. Three Dunedin contractors, the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., Mitchell Brothers, and the Love Construction Company, Ltd., are engaged in the work. The roof is about- to be put on the kitchen block. These amenities are in preparation for the beginning of work on the diversion cut.
