VON RUNDSTEDT AND STRAUSS
“ MEDICALLY UNFIT TO STAND TRIAL” VON MANSTEIN WILL BE TRIED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 6 The proceedings against two of Hitler’s commanders, Field-Marshal von Rundstedt and Colonel - General Strauss, will be dropped, and they will be released. Lord Henderson, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, announcing this; said that the
British Government had decided in the light of medical evidence that Field-Marshal von Rundstedt and Colonel-General Strauss were unfit to stand trial. Field-Marshal von Manstein was fit to stand trial, according to the medical evidence, and he would be tried, Lord Henderson added.
