EXPORT OF ARMS TO SPAIN

PQLAND SEEKS BAN BRITAIN AND AMERICA CRITICISED (Rec. 9 p.m.) NEVZ YORK. May 5. Poland has called on the United Nations General Assembly to ban the export of arms, ammunition and strategic material to Spain. In a resolution introduced before the Assembly's Political Committee to-day, Poland also proposed that all members of the United Nations should refrain from entering ' into agreements or treaties with the Franco regime. The resolution also sought the reaffirmation of previous resolutions by the General Assembly, including the ban on the appointment of ambassadors to Madrid. The Polish resolution alleged that Britain and the United States and several other countries had “continued to strengthen their political and economic relations with Franco Spain, thereby preventing the establishment of a democratic Spanish regime.” The committee adjourned without reaching a decision.
