MOTHER AND DAUGHTER FINED (New Zealand Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 6. A mother of 13 children Alice Victoria Bennett, aged 45. and her married daughter. Mildred Alice Tompkins, aged 24 pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to shoplifting charges. The police said Bennett was caught with three pairs of children’s bloomers, valued at 7s 6d, in her shopping bag ! Tompkins placed children’s wear valued !at 11s 5d under her cardigan. Neither had been in trouble before “So many women go around the shops and steal goods and when caught express their sorrow,” said Mr J. H. Luxford. S.M. “They think they can get away with it. You will each be fined £lO, to |be paid iq weekly instalment* of 10s.”
