EXERCISES IN DEFENCE
IMPERIAL TRAINING COURSES N.Z. TO B? REPRESENTED (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, March 31. Three important naval, air, and army defence exercises for senior offi- 1 cers will be conducted in England during' the next two months. The first will begin on April 25, and will continue until April 29.
It will be held at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich. New Zealand will be represented by Captain H. Lovegrove, H.N., who has been designated Second Naval Member of the New Zealand Naval Board, and by Mr David Wraight, a New Zealand civil servant who is now at the Imperial Defence College. From May 16 to May 20, senior officers of the Royal Air Force and of the Dominion air forces will attend an exercise at Old Sarum. It is not yet known who will represent New Zealand.
The third exercise will be directed by the new Chief of the Imperial General Staff (Field-Marshal Sir William Slim), and will deal primarily with problems of forces’ co-operation in civilian defence. It will be held at the Staff College, Camberley, from May 23 until May 27. New Zealand will be represented by Brigadier G. B. Parkinson, New Zealand military liaison officer in London, and by Air Commodore M. W. Buckley, officer commanding the New Zealand Air Headquarters in the United Kingdom.
