Mil EDEN BACK IN LONDON
COMMENT ON WORLD TOUR ROBUST CONFIDENCE IN COMMONWEALTH (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, March 30. The Deputy Leader of the British Parliamentary Opposition (Mr R. A. Eden), who arrived at the London Airport to-day after a world tour said that he had found everywhere a robust confidence in “our enduring partnership as a Commonwealth.” 1 He said he had found the people of j New Zealand and 'Australia anxious for more visits from people in Britain I —more two-way traffic. He was more ■ than ever convinced of the constructive contribution which the British family of nations could make tc the peace of the world. “In Australia and New Zealand we found deep regret at the postponement of the Royal visit,” he said. “Everyone was concerned about the King’s health, and fervent prayers were offered that he might be restored to good health, and that in some form a visit might be possible later. “My outstanding impression was of the underlying unity of the British family of nations, and of the goodwill on every side felt towards this country. which so many still call ‘Home.’ ” Mr Eden said he was in favour of the gradual spread of industry over the whole of the British Commonwealth. The only criticism he had heard about British exports concerned prices. The quality was accepted as high.
