AUSTRALIAN BUTTER FOR CANADA

(Rec. 10 p.m.) CANBERRA March 30. The Federal Minister of Commerce (Mr R. T. Pollard) said to-day that 100 tons of Australian butter would be shipped to Canada, because of the adverse season for dairy products in that country. Mr Pollard said butter would come from 3500 tons which, under the terms of its contract with the United Kingdom. Australia was free to send to markets it desired to retain or develop. Mr Pollard was commenting on concern expressed by Hobart grocers that large quantities of butter were being sent to Canada instead of to Britain.
