BRITISH STEEL BILL
CONSUMERS’ COUNCIL TO BE CREATED (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 30. An Iron and Steel Consumers’ Council will be established to represent consumers’ interests under an important new clause which the Minister of Supply (Mr George Strauss) will move in the report stage of the Iron and Steel Bill, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The council will consist of an independent chairman appointed by the Minister, 20 members appointed by the Minister in consultation with consumers’ and workers’ organisations, and two members nominated by the Iron and Steel Corporation which the bill will set up.
