ENGAGEMENTS
The engagement is announced of Betty, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Dennis, Christchurch, to Bruce, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs W. F. Bennetts, Dunedin. The engagement is announced of Clarice May, only daughter of Mr and Mrs C. V. Ferriss, Christchurch, to Robert Bruce, Ohoka, only son of the late Mr and Mrs R. C. Boswell, Auckland. A fashion show with a difference was held in London recently. Instead of showing the usual expensive models, the exhibition was designed to give the average working girl an opportunity of seeing clothes within her income. The show also gave women with “awkward” figures a chance to see clothes which would suit them. The models, according to a report, included lean, lanky, and dumpy girls with hip measurements varying from 34 to 47in
