JAPANESE AND OTHER ASIATICS BILL PASSED BY HOUSE (Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 1. A bill that would allow Japanese to enter the United States as migrants was passed by the House of Representatives to-day and now goes to the Senate for approval. The bill would allow immigrants from Far Eastern countries and the Pacific islands to qualify for American citizenship. .The countries affected include India, Pakistan, China, Japan, the Netherlands East Indies, Samoa, Korea, New Guinea, Nauru Island, and the Philippines. The bill would remove the last remaining racial barriers to United States citizenship. Mr Waltv Judd, author of the bill, said in the House that the passage of the earlier law’s that excluded Japanese was “psychologically a major -cause of the militarism in Japan that led to Pearl Harbour.” Mr Francis Walter .said the bill would win friends for the United States in Japan, “where they are needed right now.”
