MAGISTRATE’S COURT

TUESDAY (Before Mr RaymOnd Ferner, S.M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY Andrew O’Neil, a painter, aged 35. was fined £3 on a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. Sub-Inspector G. H. L. Holt said that accused had been evicted from an hotel and had shaped up to the porter. When a police sergeant intervened, accused threw his coat at hitn and again shaped up to the porter. When the fine was imposed, accused asked if he could appeal against the sentence. He was told he could make application later. ADJOURNED Robert Lindsay Ayling, a piano tuner, aged 21. pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of goods valued at £6 8s 2d, the property of Sedley Wells, Ltd. The case was adjourned until February 14 for a report by the Probation Officer. TRAFFIC OFFENCES Fines were Imposed as follows for breaches of the traffic regulations in cases brought by the Transport Department:— Defective foot brake: Augustus Florence, £2. Obstructing vehicular entrance: Francis Harold Feaver, 10s. Insufficient lights! George Walter Fox. 20s (no warrant of fitness, 10s). Failing to dip lights: Norman George Goffin, 20s. Driving against automatic lights: Douglas Stuart Hamilton, 20s (no warrant of fitness, 10s). Failing to display classification plate: James Smith, 10s. Driving at a dangerous speed: Frederick Caswell G. Thyne. £4 (no warrant of fitness, 10s). Driving vehicle other than specified on licence: Travis Ewing Wylie, 20s. Cycling with no hands on handlebars: Trevor John Stapley, 20s.

CIVIL CASES (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) .JUDGMENTS BY DEFAULT Judgment was given the plaintiffs bv default in the following cases:—Cash Order Purchases; trading under the name of G. S. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES On judgment summonses, F. Bryant was ordered to pay R. and E. Tingey and Co., Ltd.. £3 16s Id, forthwith, in default four days’ imprisonment; Alfred Thomas Cooper was ordered to pay G. G. Lockwood £l3 8s 6d forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as defendant pays 15s a fortnight. JUDGMENT FOR DEFENDANT Judgment was given for the defendant in a defended action in which W. S. Peters claimed, possession of a chattel valued at £24 from E. E. Edmonds.
