RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL
MR FRASER DESCRIBES STEP AS “INEVITABLE” (P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 25. “I think the United Kingdom and all the countries of the British Commonwealth will recognise Israel before very long.” said the Prime Minister ■ r Fraser) on his return to New Zealand. “In my opinion that is unavoidable.” he said. “Israel has made de facto recognition inevitable. The United States have given de facto recog ition since the Lake Success assembly. The Security Council, in laying down the truce conditions and defining boundaries, has recognised Israel as a nation bv treating it as a responsible state.”
