FAST FLIGHT TO BANGKOK
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 21. A silver aircraft model mounted on an ashtray base with Royal Siamese Air Force wings was presented to Flight Lieutenant G. Francis, A.F.C., of Hamilton, by Air Marshal Luang Devaridhi Panluk at Bangkok after Flight Lieutenant Francis had flown a Vampire jet fighter from Singapore. He covered the 950 miles from Singapore to Bangkok in 2 hours 20 minutes flying time with one refuelling stop at Butterworth, states the Air Ministry News Service. The Vampire was one of three undergoing tropical tests in the Far East, and the visit to Bangkok was timed to coincide with the annual Siamese Constitution Fair.
