SUBSIDY ON FOWL FEED
WITHDRAWAL FROM TODAY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The subsidy on fowl wheat, bran, and pollard will be abolished as from to-morrow. Announcing this the Minister of Supply (Mr A. H. Nordmeyer) said the South Island system of purchasing fowl wheat by warrants would cease at the same time. It was hoped sufficient Australian wheat would be coming forward in the North Island to meet all poultry requirements and that further rationing would be unnecessary. Additional costs to poultry keepers, amounting to 3Ad a dozen, would be compensated for by an increase in the subsidy paid on eggs marketed through official egg floors, said the Minister.
