HANMER SPRINGS CARNIVAL
£9O FOR R.S.A. BUILDING FUND A successful carnival and gymkhana was held by the Returned Services’ Association at Hanmer Springs recently. More than £9O profit was made, and this has been credited to the association’s clubroom building fund. There was a large attendance of visitors and residents at the carnival, which was held in perfect weather. The following were the results of events:— Single women’s race: J. Lawless 1, J. Cooper 2, A. McFarlane 3. Married women’s race: Mrs Latham 1, Mrs Fitzgibbon 2, Mrs Maling 3. Women’s threelegged race: Mrs Latham and Mrs Maling 1, Miss Rutherford and Miss McFarlane 2. Miss Cooper and Miss Wilkie 3. Men’s race: D. McAuliffe 1. A. Rutherford 2, N. Vowles 3. Sack race: G. Bellamy 1, R. Overton 2, D. McLeay 3. Three-legged mixed: Miss Read and D. McLeay 1, Miss McFarlane and E. Rutherford 2, Miss Wilkie and Wilkie 3. Cigarette race: Miss Carson and H. Anderson 1, Mrs Savill and A. Joyce 2, Mrs Harris and A. Harris 3. Potato race: A. Harris 1, J. Wilkie 2, L. Rae 3. Women’s sack race: Miss McFarlane 1, Miss Rutherford 2, Miss Wilkie 3. Wheelbarrow race: W. Jarden and T. Shields 1, R. Peters and H. Turner 2, L. Rae and R. Garlick 3. Musical chairs: W. Jarden 1, D. Haldane 2, A. Harris 3. Tilt the ring: A Joyce 1, D. Haldane 2, R. Carter 3. Goal kicking: R. Bull 1, J. Mallinson 2, R. Carter 3. Sheaftossing: N.
