Mr J. Morrison, who has retired from the position of Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties in Christchurch, was entertained at afternoon tea by members of the Christchurch Stock Exchange. Apnreciation of the manner in which Mr Morrison had filled the office was exnressed by the chairman of the Stock Exchange (Mr A. J. Scott). Mr J. D. Anderson, principal inspector for the Canterbury and West Coast districts of the livestock division. Department of Agriculture, will commence three months' retiring leave on April 1. 1949. Mr Anderson joined the livestock division as an inspector of stock in 1920. after military service overseas in the 1914-1918 war. After serving in a number of North Island districts, he. was appointed to his present position in July, 1944.
