Drivers to Hold Stop-Work Meetings.— As the result of recommendations by the union’s assessors after the adjournment of conciliation proceedings. the national executive of the New Zealand Drivers’ Federation decided yesterday to call stop-work meetings throughout New Zealand to place before members a statement of proceedings in conciliation council recently. The meetings will be held in each of the main centres in the 12 affiliated union districts on January 28. —(P.A.)
Television Tried by Navy.—Television sets have been installed in certain units of the Royal Navy to see whether general operational briefing at sea could effectively be relayed to various ships. The idea, according to the “Daily Mail,” is that one operational commander of a carrier force should gi/e the briefing and so avoid the minor discrepancies which sometimes occur if all units are briefed separately by their own operational commanders.—London, December 14,-
