AIR STRENGTHS COMPARED

“TREMENDOUS SOVIET ADVANCES” (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13. John W. R. Taylor, editor of the “Aircraft Annual,” who is also connected with a British aircraft firm, writing in the "Aircraft Annual, 1949,” says: “At the end of the war the American and British air forces decided to make do with existing equipment for a few years. While they are doing this Russian designers have made tremendous technical advances, probably through the help of German scientists. “As a result, squadrons of powerful modern jet bomber and fighters are already in service with the Red Air Force. “The Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Force, on the other hand, still relv largely on improved models of aircraft in service at the end of the war.”
