SIMS COMMONWEALTH PROFESSORSHIP
NOTED BRITISH SURGEON APPOINTED LONDON, December 12. The council of the Royal College of Surgeons has appointed Sir Reginald Watson-Jones as Arthur Sims Commonwealth Travelling Professor for 1950. Sir Reginald Watson-Jones, who Is 46, has been orthopaedic surgeon to the King since 1946. Educated at Liverpool, London, and Continental universities, he had a distinguished record as a student, and in 1926 was appointed Senior Surgical Tutor and Registrar of the Liverpool Royal Infirmary. He was also resident house surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and clinical assistant at Great Ormond Street Hospital. During the war he was orthopaedic consultant to the Royal Air Force. He was a member of a surgical mission to Russia in 1943. He has published a number of works on orthopaedics.
