SWARM OF BEES IN CITY

A swarm of bees outside the Majestic Theatre caused considerable apprehension among pedestrians and traffic inspectors yesterday morning Shortly before 9.30 o’clock the swarm flew south along Manchester street and settled on the base of an electric light pole on the corner of Manchester and Lichfield streets. Eventually the owner of a boot shop nearby and an amateur beekeeper (Mr L. E. Smith) swept the swarm into a box. The queen bee nrobably flew up the metal covering over the cable on the pole, Mr Smith said.
