ST. ANDREW’S COLLEGE
Dr. R. A. Falla was the guest speaker at the annual prize-giving of St. Andrew’s College yesterday. Dr. Falla spoke of the significance of the college shield with its four symbols of the Southern Cross, the lamp of knowledge, the open book,-and the burning bush, united by the Cross of St. Andrew. The rector (Mr L. W. Stewart) reported that the chemistry and physics memorial block was now being built, and it was hoped that it would be completed some time during the first term next year. Mr ‘Stewart also spoke of the chapel which it was proposed to build at the college. “The chapel will incorporate a •shrine hallowed to the memory of old boys who gave their lives in the war, and will symbolise the ideals for which St. Andrew’s was founded,” he said.
