LAMBETH AND BISHOP BARNES
Sir, —Would you grant me space to ask Archbishop West-Watson if he is in favour of Communism. He is speaking so much about the Archbishop of Canterbury (we all know what his views are). Do we all want to hear about the grandeur of the Lambeth Conference? I think we should have a little more about our Saviour, the Bible ana all it means and professes. The Church of England suffered a great loss in the passing of that deepr ly religious man, Dr. Temple. What a tower of strength he would have been to our King at the present time. —Yours, etc., A VERY OLD ANGLICAN. December 9, 1948. [When this letter was referred to Archbishop West-Watson he Said he questioned whether the correspondent was not confusing the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. G. F. Fisher) with the Dean of Canterbury (the Very Rev. Hewlett Johnston.]
