23 KILLED IN LISBON
EXPLOSION IN GUNPOWDER FACTORY (Rec. 7 p.m.) LISBON. Nov. 24. At least 23 persons were killed, most of them women, and 24 were injured in ah explosion at Amora, on the southern bank of the River Targus, opposite Lisbon. The explosion, which occurred in a gunpowder factory, shook buildings and broke windows in Lisbon. Ambulances and fire brigades were rushed across the river from: Lisbon to assist the local services.
Jet Fighters for Denmark.—Denmark will buy 35 jet fighters from Britain as part of a £5,000,000 rearmament programme, says Reuter’s correspondent in Copenhagen.—London, November 24.
