BIG SUM WON IN DOUBLE
LONDON, October 27 Jock Carson, a 21-year-old jockey, who was to have ridden Brink in the Cambridgeshire to-day, was not allowed to ride in the race because he held a sweepstake ticket on Wisley, one of the other competitors. The ticket would have been worth about £lO,OOO had Wisley won the A woman, who linked the Cambridgeshire winner, Sterope, with the Cesarewitch winner, Woodburn, in a double, collected £6060 for an outlay of £6. Sterope has not been out of a place in 14 races. Sterope beat Royal Tara by half a I length, with Impeccable and PatdhonJy ! dead-heating for third, two lengths back. ! A protest against the winner was dis- • missed.
