SOME STOCKS IMPROVE The Christchurch Stock Exchange was quiet yesterday, and prices of several stocks dealt in showed improvement. New Zealand Breweries registered a recovery of 6d in business at 51s 9d, and more were wanted at that figure. FIJI TO REDUCE ROYALTY *ON GOLD SUVA, October 25. To encourage low-grade ore mining, the reduction of royalty on gold from 5 per cent, to a minimum of 14 per cent, on a sliding scale will be presented in a bill to the Fijian Legislative Council next month. A copra tax bill provides for an export tax of £3 a ton on all copra exported. After the first year the tax will be fixed by the »Governor-in-Council.
