SAFFRON THISTLE IN POISONED GRAIN •From Our Own Reporter WAIMATE. October 27. A warning to ratepayers against using poison grain, which was found to contain considerable quantities of saffron thistle, was given by the chairman (Major N. A. Rattray) at a meeting of the Waimate County Council to-day. There had been a considerable demand for the grain, he said. The Department of Agriculture, in reply to an inquiry, said that phosphorus poison would not neutralise germination.
