BUSINESS IN COMMITTEE
FEDERATED FARMERS’ EXECUTIVE Scheduled to begin its meeting in Christchurch at 1.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon, the North Canterbury executive of Federated Farmers transacted all but a very small portion of its business in committee until 3.30 o’clock, when the reporter of ‘‘The Press” left, after being informed by the secretary (Mr A. E. G. Lyttle) that there was little of public interest likely to be discussed in open meeting. The meeting began its formal session at 1.40 p.m. After the confirmation of minutes, reception of apologies, and the passing of a motion of sympathy, it went into committee at 1.47 p.m. It resumed in open meeting at 2.55 p.m. to discuss a plan for’ a centennial farming competition, and again went into committee at 3.8 p.m. The agenda paper issued to members had the following items marked “in committee”: remits on graduated subscription from the Amberley and Ohoka district branches; a report on representation on the Lincoln College Board (meeting with Agricultural and Pastoral Association); and financial statement. In addition, the president (Mr««J. W. Earl) indicated that several other items on the agenda would be taken in committee.
