BUILDING SITE FOR A.A.
£6OOO OFFERED The Automobile Association (Canterbury) wishes to buy a new building site overlooking Latimer square. It is in Hereford street between the Woolston Tanneries building and the Occidental Hotel. The Christchurch Urban Land Sales Committee was asked yesterday to approve the sale by Agnes Marian Sims and Margaret Cooper (Mr 'G. C. Weston) to the association (Mr A. C. Fraser) at £6OOO. For the vendor, Mr H. T. Penrose valued the site at £6143. The Crown valuation was £3830. The contract provided for a 62ft frontage on Hereford street to a section of 37.8 perches, with an easement over a 12ft right-of-way from Hereford street to Madras street.
The Crown representative (Mr. D. G. Ward) said the committee could not add special value simply because the purchaser wanted the land. Decision was reserved. t
